William R. "Bill" Johnson, Sr

Bear - Bill, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

Bill worked for the State of Delaware as the Manager of the Beauty Shop at the State Hospital for over 22 years before retiring in 2012. He also worked at Community Systems as an assistant Manager of a group home for over 20 years.

Bill loved listening to music, cross-stitching and traveling, especially to the beach, Florida, Wildwood and the Poconos. He was very social and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Johnson and his life long partner, Wilbur Sheppard.
Bill is survived by his son, William "Roy" Johnson, Jr. (Deborah); his grandchildren, William R. "Billy" Johnson, III, Travis Johnson, Rosemary Avellino (Julie), Jenna Baker and Greg Sypniewski; his great grandson, Jeremy; his niece Lisa Bush and a host of other family members.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, July 14 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions in Bill's memory to St. James Episcopal Church, 2 S. Augustine St., Newport, DE 19804.
