William "Ty" Wichess
Age 56 of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010.
Born on August 17, 1953 in New Castle, DE, to the late Joseph and Evelyn Smullen; also preceded in death by his stepfather, Francis Conley.
Ty joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1972, rose to the rank of corporal and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He was trained as a Construction Draftsman and Combat Engineer and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. Ty obtained his degree in Civil Engineering and continued working in that field for over 30 years. He was a licensed PLS in DE, MD, PA and NC. He was a proud Partner of Civil Engineering Associates in Middletown, DE.
Ty will be truly missed by his wife, Janet L. Wichess, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage; sons, Jermaine Ray; Aaron Ray and his wife Amy; Joseph Wichess and his wife Daina; Ian Wichess and his wife Jennifer;17 "adored" grandchildren; siblings, Cheryl Armstrong and her husband Michael; Samuel Wichess; Shirley Sherill; and his loyal dogs, Coco and Snowball.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 East Justis Street, Newport, DE on Friday, August 6, at 12 Noon, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, and to help defray medical expenses, the family asks that you please consider donations to the William Wichess Memorial Fund at any TD Bank.
