Wilma passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
Wilma was employed at Legislative House in Dover and later, in the Prothonotary office of the Superior Court of New Castle County for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Middletown and Newark Senior Centers and worked with the Democratic Party and Presidential campaigns for Presidents Kennedy and Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis W. McDowell, Jr and her second husband, Howard Kaupp; her daughter, Karen Ann McDowell; son, James W. McDowell, Sr; great grandson, Andrew McDowell; and siblings; Verna Hackett, Ruth Paoletti, Emma Best, Clark Cochran, Robin Cochran, and Donald Cochran,
Wilma is survived by her children; Michael L. McDowell (Charlotte), and Amy McDowell Lewandowski (John); Grandchildren; James Jr, Brian, Charlotte Ann, Michael, Shannon, Justin, Jason, and Brooke; 8 Great Grandchildren; her brother, Bill Cochran (Jo), and daughter-in-law, Pat McDowell; along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, April 12 at St. Joseph RC Church,371 E. Main Street, Middletown. Burial will be private.
