Obituary for William Ray Johnson

William Ray  Johnson
William R. “Bill” Johnson age 78, of Newark Delaware, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

Bill was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. After cleaning up his own life and being in his own recovery, Bill used his own life lessons and struggles for good, moving on to work as a supervisor at a half-way house for three and a half years helping others along there journey. In 1979 he went on to study psychology at the University of Delaware. He began working for the state of Delaware-Human services at Governor Beacon Health Center where he worked with adolescents for three and a half years. When he resigned, he then worked for the Division of Family Services for 20 years, then he start working at leisure elementary school as a Crisis Therapist until he retired in 2005.

Bill was baptized in 1994, and was an active member of Newark United Pentecostal Church.

Bill was proceeded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Raison; His brother, James C Johnson Jr., and his sister Mae Brown.

His survivors are; His wife of 9 years, Kelly Ann Johnson; Children, William R. Johnson Jr., Rebekah Lindsey Johnson, Sean M. Forbes, Nichole M. Forbes, and Tara Costill; His sister Marion Merriman; Grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Keiara Johnson-Horn, LeeAnn Forbes, Seanna Forbes, Vivian Costill Bounderant, Kason Forbes; and several nieces and nephews.

Please come celebrate his life with us, and say your goodbyes to this man we will greatly miss. Services will be held at Newark United Pentecostal Church; 73 Salem Church Rd, Newark DE 19713. Visitation will begin at 10am, followed by the funeral services at 11am on Wednesday April 11, 2018. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of Flowers, contribution can be made to Nichols - Gilmore Funeral home to assist with the funeral expenses.
