I came to know John as a student at Wesley College, 1972-‘74. He would join with friends in the lounge or cafeteria and had the most infectious smile....but it was his voice that always caught my ear and you would recognize it in any crowd. One day he walked up and said, "Havin’ a Roast Pig BBQ in my backyard, you coming?" There was a long trail of cars headed for Smyrna that day, and one of the finest meals I ever had. John always had a big heart and as I will think of him, I will always hear the tenor of that voice in my thoughts and smile
